This evening/early morning I’m finishing a major deadline. Things tend to shut down around deadline time, and I have little to no time for entertainment. Short things like the comic What the Duck provide humor I really appreciate during stressful times. This strip is what I feel like in between cups of coffee.

The Beijing Olympics have captured my attention. Some reasons why:
The opening ceremony. Simply amazing. I’ll have to watch more of Yimou Zang’s films.
Surprising finishes. The 4×100 men’s swimming relay last night was so close! (watch here)
Personal stories. I don’t like every short feature on the athletes, but I’m paying more attention this year. Some are overly dramatic, or just fluff, but others are truly inspiring stories of overcoming adversity.
The background. It’s interesting to learn about the host country’s culture, and I don’t really know a lot about China. Add in some concerns about pollution and human rights, and I want to research more.
What do you like about the Olympics?

How do you browse the internet?
I use different browsers to see how web pages display differently, and I’m learning to appreciate their differences.
Most with windows just use Internet Explorer, but I find it frustrating in dealing with multimedia. I mostly just use it for Netflix and Outlook email.
My favorite is Firefox, and with their new version 3.0, it seems to be the fastest. They were the first to add tabs, and they are quickly adding more users.
I also like Flock, which is great for social interaction. They have sidebars that incorporate Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and some of the other social sites I use. It is very similar to Firefox.
Safari, a browser from Apple, is available for Windows. I like its speed and slightly different rendering of text.
My usage is probably 1. Firefox 2. Flock 3. Safari 4. Internet Explorer.
Any other suggestions?
